The bachelor students presented their degree project finally in May 2021. Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 in May in Taiwan. The very final exhibition and presentation were held online. Please have a look of students’ design project here – 漸進線.
In this year, I have supervised four teams and three have successfully finished their project.
Origami Raincoat by Xin-Luo Chang & Jen-Jun Chen
The raincoat presented by Chang and Chen was inspired by origami. While there are many applications of origami in fashion design or other wearable devices, origami is often used to provide structural benefit or visual effect. In this design project, the students used origami for transformation of the raincoat. While general raincoats are difficult to organize after wearing for the rain, the new design allows users to fold the raincoat in just few seconds. By shaking it, the raincoat re-shape itself to a well-folded form by the origami pattern. The water on the surface also drops by following the form to the ground, allowing users to tidy their wet mass rapidly and fight again all the inconvenience in a rainy day.
Immersing in Silence by Tsai-An Hung, Wei-Gang Chang, & Gia-Yi Lin
In this project, three design students created an interactive table designed to create an extra-worldly atmosphere. The table interact with the objects on the surface by showing ripples and swimming light spots.
Social Music Stage by Yin-Cho Chen
How to create a space for sharing music? This mini stage might be a solution for a guitarist to present her/his musical performance. It can be installed in a restaurant, a train station, or other public space. Passengers or visitors are invited by the instrument hanging on the wall. They take the instrument in hands, lay on the backrest, and perform extemporaneously.
