COVID-19 is definitively a nightmare for those loving to travel. This semester, we want to design the traveling experience for the township, Zuozheng. The practical session of this semester’s project has two parts. Our students first did interviews with people about their travel experiences. From the collected data, they summarized their own theories of how meanings are generated during travel. Second, they organized their self-guided tour in two days and gathered their naive but authentic experience of this rural area. Grounded in these two materials, students proposed their design concepts and demonstrated them as scenarios with mock-ups.
Nine projects are presented in January, 2022. Ms. Liu-Zu Chen and Mr. Zheng-Da Lai, experts of the local community in Zuozheng, and Prof. Hsiu-Tzu Chang and research assistant, Ms. Pei-Jei Lin, joined our presentation, giving their feedbacks to the student teams.
