Creative Product Design (EMI course)

Well… although it is called “product design”, in this course, you will get a much wider understanding of “product.”

Creative Product Design is a project-based course that introduces fundamental concepts from innovation theory and examines the historical development of technological products. By understanding why innovations succeed or fail, students learn to design strategies that make their ideas persuasive and culturally desirable.

In this course, we explore key models such as Innovation Diffusion Theory, the S-Curve, and the Product Life Cycle. We also equip students with practical tools, including interview techniques and design strategies like experience design, persuasive technology, and speculative design approaches, helping them gain field insights and generate innovative ideas.

Focusing on the theme of successful innovation, students are required to test their ideas, conduct design iterations, and refine their concepts. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate their innovative ideas through prototypes and present their strategies in the form of a venture pitch.
