Design Presentation in the Pixel Field

The final presentation of our class Reflexive Methods in Design/Art Practices was given on the platform gather.town. The subject of this semester is “landscape design”, in which we generally follow Burkhardt’s concept of Strollology. According to my teaching plan, students will create different artefacts to shape the experience of landscape. Further, by installing the artefacts physically in the field, we can stroll in the “designed” landscape and create a reflexive experience. However, due to the pandemic breakout in Taiwan, all activities on the campus were cancelled!!

Experiencing Autonomous Car

We are at Taiwan Car Lab experiencing the autonomous car developed by the NCKU (department of electronic engineering, Prof. Jyh-Chin Juang’s research team). We also got a very nice introduction from Dr. Longyao Zhang about how Taiwan Car Lab is organizing and serving their “driving classes” as well as “driving tests” for autonomous cars from all over the world.

X-College, the 10th college, is a virtual college at NCKU, which focuses on interdisciplinary learning programs and trans-disciplinary research cooperation. This wonderful program has started on 20th. Sep. 2019, and we just had an exciting course kick-off about the theme this year “FUTUROLOGY”. All teaching staffs giving their introductions about the courses all agreed that “we would like to be students of this program.” All presented issues in this program, including artificial intelligence & future design, circular economy & future city, autonomous mobility & smart society, emotional living & trend design, and virtual interaction & innovation, are challenging but so fascinating. Join us!

D-Camp 2019

4 teams from NCKU were attending to the international design workshop and competition, D-Camp. This workshop started in March and was hosted in Taiwan at NCKU. Students from South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, have to build international teams and finish their design work in six months. The final presentation is located in Daejeon, South Korea, and students from NCKU bring back two Bronze prices – not a very satisfying result, but they really enjoyed this international experience in design.
